Sometimes you think, why make things difficult when it can be easy? At least, that's what it seems like these days when you read all the rave stories about Ozempic.
Only to realize again why it's such a stupid idea. We already touched on it at the end of 2023 in an article about hypertrophy when Ozempic was already becoming a hype.
That hype has still not blown over. What few people seem to realize is that Ozempic only helps with losing weight, but that if those people do not also start doing strength training at the same time (or continue with it), a significant amount of muscle mass is lost.
What a shame!
In line with our previous article about a 'beach body' , I want to take a different approach: strive for a super strong and muscular body!
How do you achieve that in a responsible way? Then I can hardly do anything else than refer to the manual that everyone has been referred to for about 25 years when they want to seriously start strength training: Starting Strength van Mark Rippetoe.
Nowadays you can watch videos in abundance on YouTube. Yet, we recommend that you also start here with the Starting Strength videos: https://www.youtube.com/@startingstrength
That is far preferable to taking advice from some guy at the gym, who assures you that he has all the wisdom, but then teaches you exercises the wrong way, no offense to the good ones.
I myself suffer from a kind of innate clumsiness, so that videos did not work out so well. Moreover, they were hardly available about 20 years ago. That is why I went to a gym where they practiced Olympic weightlifting to learn deadlifts.
Then you will notice what a difference it makes whether you go to a regular gym where they just let you mess around or to a serious weightlifting school where good technique is taken seriously.
In short, if possible, go to a gym where they practice Olympic weightlifting. If you can't, buy this book, watch videos and even better, record yourself and compare it to the videos you saw on YouTube!
If you don't speak English very well, it helps to turn on the subtitles.
