Immune Formula Pro is a complete formula containing the most important nutrients that support the functioning of the immune system. It contains vitamins A, C, D, selenium and zinc, which all have a positive influence on immunity in their own way. One capsule contains the amounts needed for a daily support. Immunity
The interest in the functioning of the immune system has never been greater. Many people today are looking for ways to keep their resistance up. The immune system is a highly ingenious but complex set of cells (such as T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, and macrophages) and molecules (such as cytokines [messenger substances] and immunoglobulins [antibodies]) that protect the body. In addition, it also clears up waste products that are formed in the body. To keep the functioning of the immune system optimal and balanced, it helps to eat a healthy and varied diet, exercise enough and sleep well. A dietary supplement can make sense for many people as a supplement to the diet to increase the intake of certain micronutrients. Specific nutrients such as vitamins A, C, D, selenium and zinc contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system.

Quercetin (Quercefit®)
The highest dosed ingredient in this product is quercetin. Quercetin is one of the most important and best researched bioflavonoids. Immune Formula Pro uses quercetin with the brand name Quercefit®, from the Italian producer Indena. 500 and 1000 mg Quercefit® are the same doses used in multiple human studies. Quercefit® contains quercetin extracted from the flowers of the honey tree (Sophora japonica). The absorption and bioavailability of the quercetin in Immune Formula Pro has been greatly improved by applying the patented Phytosome® technology. The term  Phytosome (or phytosome) comes from the Greek words  phuton (plant) and  soma (body). During the patented production process, the natural clumping of specific, poorly absorbable phytonutrients (such as quercetin) is limited, and these are mixed with phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine) from sunflower lecithin. The active substances are not encapsulated (as in liposomes), but a homogeneous mixture of small, easily absorbable particles is created. Bioflavonoids (such as quercetin) have a natural affinity for phospholipids. The result is the formation of phytosomes, where the bioflavonoids attach to the phospholipids. In this way they are absorbed extra well. After all, cell membranes (such as cells in the small intestine) themselves also consist of a phospholipid bilayer, so that these phytosomes can pass through the intestinal wall well and the active ingredients can be well absorbed into the circulation. Studies have shown that the absorption and bioavailability of quercetin is 10-20 times better with this Phytosome® technology.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A (retinol) is converted in the body into the active form retinoic acid. In this form, it is involved in various biochemical and physiological processes in the cell. Vitamin A plays a role in maintaining the integrity of epithelial cells throughout the body and in this way supports, among other things, the quality of the mucous membranes (such as in the lungs and intestines). Vitamin A is also important for a well-functioning immune system. It supports the growth and development of T cells and contributes to the normal functioning of other immune cells, such as macrophages. Finally, it helps to maintain a good balance between T helper cells 1 (Th1) and T helper cells 2 (Th2), an important prerequisite for a balanced immune response. Immune Formula Pro contains a safe dose of vitamin A and no beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A) so that the conversion of pro-vitamin A to vitamin A by the body is no longer necessary.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C functions in the body as a water-soluble antioxidant and plays an important role as a free radical scavenger. It is part of a complex system of the body's own antioxidants, dietary antioxidants and antioxidant enzymes with interdependencies and interactions. In that capacity, it is involved in the protection of DNA, proteins and fats against oxidative damage and thus contributes to the maintenance of healthy cells and tissues. Vitamin C also has a positive influence on the immune system by helping the production and proper functioning of immune cells. In addition, vitamin C supports energy levels and can help with fatigue. Immune Formula Pro contains a basic amount of vitamin C (100% of the reference intake per capsule), as much as fits in the capsule.

Vitamin D3 (Vitamin D3V®)
Vitamin D is a vitamin that is not found in large quantities in food, but which is mainly produced in the skin under the influence of sunlight. Of course, one is dependent on sufficient sunshine, which is absolutely no certainty in countries such as the Netherlands or Germany. Vitamin D has an immunomodulatory effect. So it helps to keep the immune system working normally, not too strong but not too weak either. Vitamin D receptors are found on various cells involved in the immune system, such as T cells, B cells and macrophages. In this way, vitamin D provides broad support to the immune system. As a dietary supplement, the form of vitamin D3 is highly preferred over vitamin D2 in terms of effectiveness. However, a disadvantage of vitamin D3 is that in most cases it is made from sheep's wool fat and is therefore not suitable for vegans. Immune Formula Pro therefore uses a newer form of vitamin D3 from algae (Vitamin D3V®). This makes Immune Formula Pro also suitable for vegans. Vitamin K2 (K2Vital®Delta)
The most well-known function of vitamin K in the body is to contribute to normal blood clotting. Vitamin K activates certain vitamin K-dependent blood clotting factors that ensure optimal blood clotting, ie neither too fast nor too slow. Vitamin K interacts with vitamin D in several ways. It is therefore even better to take these nutrients in combination. There are two types of vitamin K, with vitamin K2 having a broader effect than vitamin K1. Vitamin K2, or menaquinone (abbreviated MK), occurs in various forms. According to the current scientific state of affairs, menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is the most effective form. MK-7 is excellently absorbed and remains in the body for a very long time to be effective, thanks to its long half-life. In Immune Formula Pro, doses of this vitamin have been chosen that have been shown to be effective in human studies. The quality of the vitamin K2 used is also a point of attention. Selenium
Selenium (also called selenium) is an essential trace element. In animal and plant products it occurs in both organic form (selenomethionine or selenocysteine) and inorganic form (selenite or selenate). The organic forms are absorbed by the body one and a half to two times better than the inorganic forms. A low selenium intake is common in Europe, including among vegetarians. This is mainly because the European soil is low in selenium and crops therefore contain less selenium. Selenium is an important antioxidant. Certain enzymes (selenoenzymes), such as glutathione peroxidase (gpx), depend on selenium and play an important role in scavenging free radicals. For example, selenium contributes to the protection against oxidative damage. In addition, selenium supports the immune system by contributing to the production of T cells. It also helps in the proper functioning of natural killer cells.

Zinc (TRAACS®)
Zinc has a positive influence on the immune system by also supporting the production of T cells, aiding in the production of cytokines and contributing to the functioning of natural killer cells. Zinc also helps to protect cells against oxidative damage, partly because it plays a role in the functioning of the antioxidant enzymes catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Zinc works together with vitamin A by contributing to a normal metabolism of this vitamin. Immune Formula Pro contains zinc in the form of zinc bisglycinate.
