For years, Vitals has had the product Rode Gist Rijst Biologisch in its range to the full satisfaction of a large number of loyal users. This product contained 10 mg of monacolin K per capsule, which means that one capsule per day would suffice. New European legislation has recently come into force, which means that the level of monacolin K in red yeast rice products is now subject to a legal maximum of less than 3 mg of monacolin K per daily dose. The replacement product Rode Gist Rijst Biologisch contains 2.5 mg monacolin K per daily dose and therefore amply complies with this new legislation. The label contains the following legally required text: 'Keep to the recommended dosage. The daily amount of less than 3 mg of monacolins should not be exceeded.'
Quality
As far as red yeast rice supplements are concerned, there is a lot of difference in quality on the market. The monacolin K content in different red yeast rice products can vary per batch. For this reason (but also because of the possible presence of citrinine, an undesirable by-product that can arise during the fermentation process), it is important to choose a supplement that has a guaranteed high quality. From Rode Gist Rijst Organic, each batch is analyzed in an independent laboratory, including for monacolin K and citrinin content.
Organic
The active ingredients of organic food supplements are guaranteed to be of natural origin and not synthetically manufactured.
