Gastro Relief 60 capsules - mastic gum, zinc carnosine and potassium nitrate | AOR
AOR's Gastro Relief is formulated to promote gastrointestinal health via multiple pathways. This includes stabilizing small bowel integrity, stimulating gut repair processes and increasing gastric nitric oxide concentrations, which can help protect the gastrointestinal system from disease.
• helps to heal the gastric lining
• prevents the growth and spread of Helicobacter pylori
• rapid relief of heartburn
• prevents damage to the esophagus
The Fire Within
Heartburn is one of the most common gastrointestinal symptoms. It is caused by the regurgitation of the gastric contents up into the esophagus. The acid in the stomach burns the lining of the esophagus leading to pain, sour taste, chest pain and even coughing. It is not only unpleasant but also problematic as the repeated onslaught of the gastric acid burning the esophageal lining can cause serious long term consequences such as Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal cancer.
It's all in the Recipe
AOR’s Gastro Relief combines proven ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action. The alginic acid in the product is central to the effectiveness. Alginic acid forms a “raft” on top of the gastric contents, preventing reflux from occurring but also coating the esophagus and protecting it from the gastric acid should reflux occur. Alginic acid works very quickly providing relief within minutes of using Gastro Relief.
Mastic Gum has been shown to wipe out Helicobacter pylori, the organism responsible for most cases of gastric and duodenal ulcers. Zinc Carnosine is a complex that helps to heal the gastric lining by protecting the cells lining the gastric wall. Potassium nitrate increases the production of Nitric Oxide which helps to heal the gastric lining. Lastly, vitamin C helps to increase the acidity of the stomach which is very important given that in many cases low stomach acidity is the root problem causing heartburn.
No Smoke without Fire
Heartburn is a very common condition that is characterized by a burning sensation that starts in the upper abdomen and moves into the chest and that is worse when lying down or bending forward. Heartburn sufferers can often associate the problem with specific foods, with fatty foods, acidic foods, alcohol and chocolate being known offenders. Heartburn is not mere acid indigestion but usually a symptom of gastroesophageal reflux - a condition where the contents of the stomach back up into the esophagus because the sphincter between the stomach and esophagus is not functioning properly.
Since the cells of the esophagus are not meant to handle this level of acidity, heartburn is extremely painful and can have serious long term consequences such as esophageal cancer, narrowing of the esophagus from scarring and Barrett’s esophagus.
Putting Out the Fire
Treating heartburn in isolation with heartburn medication targeting the acidity of the stomach is narrow minded and only provides temporary relief. Indeed, the problem with reflux is not that the stomach is too acidic; often the reverse is actually true. The valve that releases the contents of the stomach into the intestinal tract is triggered by acidity; if the stomach contents are not acidic enough, this valve does not open and the stomach contents can back up into the esophagus causing pain and irritation. This is why Gastro Relief contains Vitamin C which is acidic instead of the typical acidity buffers.
The premise behind Gastro Relief is to provide quick and effective relief from the symptoms of heartburn while addressing any fundamental pathology which would cause the problem. Gastro Relief contains Mastic Gum which has been shown to wipe out bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori, the cause behind the majority of gastric and duodenal ulcers. Clinical studies have clearly shown the effectiveness of this resin with 80% of patients receiving mastic gum for two weeks reporting significant improvements in their symptoms.
Zinc Carnosine has received much attention lately thanks to its ability to up-regulate key antioxidant enzymes thereby preventing free radicals from damaging cells. Studies have confirmed that Zinc Carnosine has antiulcer properties and prevents gastric mucosal injury. Animal studies also show that Zinc Carnosine is indicated in H. pylori infections as the molecule prevents the development of H. pylori related gastritis.
Potassium Nitrate is a precursor to Nitric Oxide. Nitric Oxide is a potent vasodilator and increases blood flow to the gastric mucosa, enhancing repair and the inflow of nutrients and oxygen. Higher nitric oxide levels in the stomach were also shown to increase effective peristalsis movements. Studies also clearly demonstrate that Nitric oxide precursors are effective anti-inflammatory agents with protective effects against gastritis.
When it comes to relieving heartburn, the key ingredient in Gastro Relief is alginic acid. Alginic acid is a viscous substance found in algae which absorbs water extremely quickly to form a “raft” on top of the gastric contents. This “raft” has two effects; it prevents the gastric contents from being pushed back up the esophagus and also coats the esophagus if the gastric contents were to reach the esophagus. An added bonus is that alginic acid works extremely quickly providing relief within a few minutes.
When it comes to the treatment of heartburn, it is essential to address the underlying problem associated with the symptom. Heartburn is usually merely a symptom of a more serious problem such as an infection or an incompetent sphincter. Gastro Relief was formulated specifically to alleviate heartburn while addressing the root cause of the problem.

Tips and tricks to keep your house cool without airconditioning
After having survived the hottest two weeks of the past century, and hearing about the deliberate choice to switch of the power in some areas of California as it became impossible to match the demand for electricity, due to the massive use of airconditioning, this week's topic had to be about how to keep your house and yourself cool without needing to rely on energy-guzzling airconditioning.
Zinc and HCQ
In the past few months, nearly everyone will have become familiar with the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and how it has been welcomed as a miracle drug, only to be set aside as being too dangerous to expose sick patients with underlying cardiovascular diseases to it.
Upon learning how HCQ is supposed to be used in this crisis, I was flabbergasted to read how HCQ was put to use by itself, as a drug on its own. True enough, HCQ is a malaria drug, but it was not just meant to be used as a curative medicin on its own for COVID-19 but as a messenger to transport the true miracle mineral, zinc into cells.
The now famous Zelenko protocol which uses HCQ , azithromycin and zinc as well as a number of other essential vitamins and minerals, was never meant to be used in hospital either, but for use by doctors on patients who had just fallen ill.
Now the researchers who discredited HCQ in the Lancet article have been debunked as having used fraudulous data in order to promote a much more expensive drug in which one of the authors had a vested interested, we think it is about time to explain a thing or two on why and how HCQ is used in combination with zinc.
Why celebrating life with food is important for our health
Especially in the darkest months of the year, there seems to be an endless amount of celebrations.
No matter what is always a common theme: food is the main attraction! In fact, the focus society currently places on food has caused us to associate certain foods with holidays, past events and special times. When we sink our teeth into such foods, it can bring back memories we hold close and take us back to a time we enjoyed. Food is much more powerful than we think!
From catching up for coffee, relaxing over brunch, indulging in a long lunch or bonding at a BBQ, it’s hard to imagine getting together without the company of food. Food is something we all have in common, we all must eat, most of us find food pleasurable and trying new foods or cafes is a new experience we can share with others.
Symptoms and natural treatments of indigestionIndigestion or heartburn can happen when your body has trouble digesting food. Anyone can get it on occasion, or it can be an ongoing problem. Heartburn is especially prominent in December with so many holidays accompanied with delicious foods, that prompt us to overindulge.
While acid reflux is a common phenomenon, not all symptoms of it, are very obvious.
When heartburn happens, for instance due to smoking, alcohol, medication, carbonated drinks or some foods that are difficult to process (spices, fats, acids, fiber) may cause a valve-like stomach muscle to loosen, allowing stomach acid to backwash into the esophagus. This exposes sensitive tissue in the chest to stomach acids, causing painful symptoms.
Common symptoms of reflux are a burning feeling in your chest or stomach, burping, bloating, gurgling stomach, acid reflux, heartburn, nausea or even vomiting.
Problems in your GI tract or other health issues also can cause indigestion. These include:
- acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux (GER), or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): A reaction to food and drink where contents come back up from your stomach. The acid can come up into your esophagus, the tube-like organ connecting your mouth and stomach. Acid reflux also can produce vomiting. This condition causes heartburn because of the high acid contents.
- irritable bowel syndrome: a disorder that affects your intestines. Symptoms include stomach pain, bloating, gas, constipation, and diarrhea.
- infection: a bacterial infection from Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) can cause indigestion.
- gastroparesis: A condition that affects digestion. If muscles in your GI tract stop working, your body slows down or stops the movement of food. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, bloating, and acid reflux.
- ulcer: A sore on the lining of your stomach (peptic ulcer), small intestine, or esophagus.
- gastritis: Inflammation of your stomach lining.
- stomach cancer: This is a rare condition, but indigestion can be one of its signs.
Pets and your health
The strength of the human animal bond has been known for a long time, but scientific studies were only conducted fairly recently.
The very first study was published only about 40 years ago when 2 American psychology researchers measured what happens physically when a person pets a friendly and familiar dog. They found that the person's blood pressure lowered, heart rate slowed, breathing became more regular and muscle tension relaxed-all of which are signs of reduced stress.
Can zinc deficiency cause depression?
The health benefits of zinc include a proper functioning of the immune and digestive systems, controlled diabetes, reduction in stress levels, improved metabolism, and an increased rate of healing for acne and wounds. Also, it is helpful in terms of pregnancy, hair care, eczema, weight loss, night blindness, cold, eye care, appetite loss, and many other conditions.
What is the importance of zinc?
Zinc plays a vital role in protein synthesis and helps regulate the cell production in the immune system of the human body. It is mostly found in the strongest muscles of the body and is found in especially high concentrations in the white and red blood cells, retina, skin, liver, kidneys, bones, and pancreas. The semen and the prostate gland in men also contain significant amounts of zinc.
In the human body, there are more than 300 different enzymes that require zinc to function normally. Researchers believe that 3,000 proteins (out of approximately 100,000) have this vital mineral.
A normal person has two to three grams of zinc at any given time. There are organs in the human body which secrete it, such as the salivary gland, the prostate gland, and the pancreas. Even cells involved in the activity of the immune system secrete zinc. It is used up in various metabolic processes and eliminated through normal excretory and urinary channels, so it needs to be replenished often. If it isn’t, you will begin to suffer from deficiency symptoms.
Glycation and agingGlycation refers to the oxidation of protein by glucose. In chemistry (and cooking), these are called “browning” reactions, and, in fact, they are seen when meats are “browned” by frying. The result is a cross-linking of glucose or another sugar molecule to the protein, an action which effectively prevents the protein from acting properly.
Glycation is a major cause of the aging process and especially devastating to diabetics.
