Each capsule of BroccoMax contains 30 mg of sulforaphane glucosinolate (yielding 8 mg of actual sulforaphane), a concentration at least 20 times greater than that found in a broccoli plant.

The Sulforaphane Generator™
Cruciferous vegetables (Brassica oleracea spp.), such as broccoli, are associated with antioxidant and cellular protection in part because they are sources of sulforaphane glucosinolate and myrosinase which together produce sulforaphane (a powerful, beneficial phytochemical).
BroccoMax® contains a standardized concentration of sulforaphane glucosinolate (SGS) and the enzyme myrosinase from broccoli seeds that have been processed using ultra clean super critical technology.
Sulforaphane glucosinolate is metabolized to the isothiocyanate known as sulforaphane. Myrosinase facilitates this transformation when the two compounds are released together into a liquid environment such as the upper intestines. In extensive studies, sulforaphane has been demonstrated to be a potent inducer of Phase 2 detoxifying enzymes and to be a protector of DNA. The Phase 2 enzymes activated by sulforaphane may remain active as antioxidants in the tissues for up to three days.
A Treasure Chest of Benefits
For more than two decades, researchers have been exploring the benefits of SGS (also called glucoraphanin), its much more active metabolite known as sulforaphane, and other constituents of cruciferous vegetables as long-lasting antioxidants and much more.
These compounds work together to activate the body’s Phase 1 and 2 detoxification enzymes. Phase 1 enzymes make many toxins more water-soluble in preparation for their elimination from the body, but in the process can increase their toxicity. Phase 2 enzymes promote the removal of toxins. Thus, the Phase 1 and 2 enzyme systems must be in balance to protect health. Current research shows that SGS initially activates Phase I enzymes.
When metabolized to its isothiocyanate form known as sulforaphane, the compound boosts the activities of the Phase 2 enzymes and also boosts the level of thioredoxin, an enzyme that – among other things – protects retinal cells of the eye against various types of oxidative attack.
In addition, sulforaphane:

Myrosinase-Activation for Sulforaphane Potential
Broccoli naturally contains myrosinase, broccoli’s own activator of sulforaphane production. However, during normal habits of consumption of broccoli and related vegetables because of cooking and other processing, generally it is left to bacterial action in the GI-tract to complete the metabolism of SGS to sulforaphane.
This has poor efficacy because approximately 70 percent of sulforaphane preferentially is absorbed in the upper part of the small intestine, whereas most bacterial activation takes place below the primary absorption sites. In addition, bacterial conversion varies among individuals, and bacterial conversation is usually quite low. Broccoli seed extracts, although often rich in sulforaphane glucosinolate, until now have not supplied the myrosinase needed to free sulforaphane.
Delayed Release Capsule Protection
Activation is only one half of the requirement for effective delivery of sulforaphane. If the two starting compounds are exposed to moisture prior to reaching the small intestine, SGS and myrosinase will activate prematurely resulting in the loss of potential sulforaphane. Similarly, if SGS and myrosinase are combined together in the acid environment of the stomach, the type of sulforaphane (sulforaphane nitrile) that is formed is largely inactive.
This means that SGS and myrosinase should be released only when they have reached the upper small intestine, which is the area in which sulforaphane is primarily absorbed.

It's possible that humans may be consuming anywhere from 39 to 52 thousand microplastic particles a year. With added estimates of how much microplastic might be inhaled, that number is more than 74 thousand.
People who drink only bottled water ingest an additional 90 thousand particles.
When researchers from Johns Hopkins looked at the impact of eating seafood contaminated with microplastics, they too found the accumulated plastic could damage the immune system and upset a gut's balance.

Particulate matter and your healthAs the Dutch government decided to move away from natural fossilized energy sources, we are moving towards solar and wind energy.

Biomass is plant or animal material used for energy production (electricity or heat). Too late though, there are already few hundred biomass plants that are being constructed due to substantial subsidies that were handed out, so we can expect a substantial worsening of air quality in the upcoming decade(s) because of the increased amount of particulate matter.
Low-dose radiation therapyLast week I listened to a Dutch podcast, which in general discusses news and politics, but for once, talked about low-dose radiatian therapy as a way to treat COVID-19. This made me curious enough that I wanted to find out more about this particular treatment method.
Most of us know at least one person, whos's been treated with high-dose radiation order to get rid of a malignant tumor. It is less well known that low dosages can be used as well and is used in some countries to treat inflammation disorders such as arthritis.
In general, this is met with disbelief as the official point of view is "all radiation is harmful" .

Yet, over 3000 scientific research papers show that low dose irradiation is stimulatory and/or beneficial in a wide variety of microbes, plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates.
How to avoid lead poisoning
Although exposure to lead has decreased within the last two decades, it is still a concern and caution is advised, especially for children who have access to toys with lead-based paint or individuals who live in older homes. In some instances, lead can leach from the main water pipes and into the household water supply. If exposed to lead, eating a healthy diet can help reduce its absorption by the body.
When lead is consumed, research shows it can cause learning and behavior problems; as it accumulates, it can cause lasting problems with growth and development. What is PSA?Every year, thousands of men are told they have a high PSA level after undergoing a routine screening test. The most important and most concerning cause of an elevated PSA is prostate cancer. However, prostate cancer is only one of many potential causes of an elevated PSA. Virtually anything that irritates the prostate will cause your PSA to rise, at least temporarily.
What exactly is PSA? PSA or Prostate-specific antigen is a protein produced by the prostate and found in the blood.
A PSA blood test can detect prostate cancer early, which makes it seem like a no-brainer to get tested.

History of conventional cancer treatmentsThere isn't a single person alive who hasn't experienced how a family member or loved one died because of cancer.
For myself this was most dramatically present in my mom and her sister who both developed breast tumors in the late 70s.
While my aunt chose to get treated conventionally, my mom chose the other path and went to a doctor who practiced an alternative diet-based therapy. What are free radicals?The body is under constant attack from oxidative stress. Oxygen in the body splits into single atoms with unpaired electrons.
