Advanced Bone Protection 30 capsules - Milk Basic Protein increases bone mineral density | AOR
AOR Advanced Bone Protection contains Milk Basic Protein (MBP), an active protein complex from the whey fraction of milk.
Research suggests that MBP can positively impact bone health by reducing bone loss (resorption) and increasing bone mineral density.
• reduces bone loss
• increases bone mineral density
• stimulates bone building cells
• supports collagen production
A Bone Building Milk Extract
Advanced Bone Protection contains Milk Basic Protein (MBP), an active protein complex isolated from the whey fraction of milk. This protein has a number of benefits for bone health. MBP is able to stimulate bone building cells while inhibiting cells responsible for bone breakdown. It reduces bone loss while increasing bone mineral density and prevents calcium from being released from bone.
Enhances Bone Proteins
MBP stimulates bone building cells to produce more collagen and increases concentrations of osteocalcin, which, next to collagen, is the major protein found in bone.
Convenient Bone Health
Advanced Bone Protection’s enormous benefits for bone health are all the more enticing because of its convenience. A full daily dose comes in one small capsule, and since MBP does not interact with other nutrients, it can be taken at any time with or without food.
Advanced Bone Protection
Scientists in Japan have isolated a fraction from whey protein which they have determined to have positive metabolic effects on bone health. It is called Milk Basic Protein, or MBP, and it is the active ingredient in Advanced Bone Protection from AOR.
How Does Advanced Bone Protection Work ?
Stated very briefly, MBP stimulates the activity and proliferation of osteoblasts (bone-building cells) while simultaneously suppressing the activity and proliferation of osteoclasts (cells responsible for bone breakdown). MBP is particularly effective at supporting the production of collagen as well as the retention of calcium.
MBP Supports Collagen Production and Calcium Retention
MBP does this via the inhibition of cystein protease due to the presence of the protein strain known as cystatin C, which is part of the structure of MBP itself. Cystatin C also inhibits the release of calcium from bones stimulated by other mediators.
MBP’s ability to inhibit cystein protease is of further benefit because the protease digests collagen in the bone matrix. MBP enhances collagen levels by specifically manipulating osteoblasts into producing more collagen in a manner that is more pronounced than that of its osteo-nutrient predecessors. MBP also increases serum concentrations of osteocalcin (BGP, also called Gla protein), which is the major non- collagenous protein in bone.
Science in Action: What the Studies Say
The human studies with MBP have reflected the success of the preliminary research. In one study among healthy menopausal women, the MBP group reported a bone mineral density (BMD) increase of 1.21% while the placebo group recorded a 0.66% BMD decrease.
Another study among healthy adult women saw the MBP group gain approximately 70% more bone mineral density than the control group. Finally, the MBP in Advanced Bone Protection from AOR comes in small, convenient capsules that can be taken with or without food and have no interactions with calcium or any other nutrients.

Avoid this, or your bones will get weaker! It is often said vegetarianism is a healthy choice when you want to live a long life. But what about bone mineral density?
Apparently, scientists wondered the same thing, so there are several studies in which a vegetarian lifestyle was examined in comparison with a traditional non-vegetarian lifestyle. A higher dietary acid load (caused by greater consumption of acid-forming foods, such as cereals and meat, than of alkali-forming foods, such as fruit and vegetables) is believed to result in bone mineral dissolution and greater bone resorption, which results in the release of carbonate, citrate, calcium, sodium, and potassium.
Hormones and osteoporosisOver and over again, women are warned to start supplementing calcium and take up weight lifting once they are in their 40s as otherwise we will end up with frail bones at old age.
Bone loss in menopause
Osteoporosis is a naturally occurring phenomenon when bones decrease in density, resulting in weakness and a higher likelihood to break.
Anyone can develop osteoporosis, not just women over 50 years but also men (generally over 70) or anyone who's been bedridden for a long time. The scary part is that bone loss happens without noticable symptoms until a bone breaks spontaneously after a fall that normally would only leave bruises.
